Narrative
An erect type of lucerne with closely growing branches, tap rooted. Fast growing with long internodes. Moderate resistance to drought and cold conditions. Under irrigation in Hexi Corridor, it can be harvested 3 - 4 times per year, producing 15000 kg DM/ha. Can be used for making hay, silage or for grazing. Wider adaptation compared with Gannong No. 3. Earlier growth in spring. Originally sourced from Professor Shangli Shi, Dean of the College of Grassland Science, Gansu Agricultural University (GAU).
