Narrative
Eastern flats and slopes. Soil depth is also 40 + cm with patches of lime near surface. Soil is saline @ 75cm. Pittosporum, Dodonaea and Atriplex spp. present on upper slopes. Nitraria billardieri present on lower slopes above Halosaria flats. Glassland slopes between higher Mallee and nitre-bush, frankenia and halosarcia flats. Feather spear grass growing through nitre bush on lower slope where more saline (EC 8.8 dS/m in central slope area), EC 0.12 dS/m (on central slopes). Soil colour is 7.5 YR 5/4. pH 1:5 water. Nil grazing pressure and area sampled is 1-10m2. Sample was fruiting in non-irrigated site. Population is defined as population and density common. In association with Nitre bush: growing outside reserve on edges of saline flats in cropping paddocks - flats of Halosarcia. Growing through Nitraria billardierei on edge of salt pan (paddock site).
