"M.sativa ssp.varia dominant Medicago at this site. M.falcata also observed, but less frequently", (Collector Note). Chromosome number 2n=32; all plants dark purple (Prosser, WA, USA regeneration 2001) Pods coiled in .5 to 2.5 loose coils (evaluation of original pod samples by S.L. Greene, 2001). Comment: Site specific GIS-derived monthly precipitation and temperature data, plus soil classification data available. Contact Dr. Stephanie L. Greene. reidentified from M. sativa ssp. x varia in 2005.
