Narrative
WHITE SEEDS - SUB DOMINANT - MODERATE GRAZING, syn SA15692. The Rosedale variety was registered in 1988, and selected by P Beale of the South Australian Department of Agriculture from seed collected in Turkey in 1974 by CM Francis. A member of the brachycalycinum group, it is more prostrate and has smaller leaves than Clare. It is earlier maturing, flowering about 9 days earlier than Clare, and is more hard-seeded. It has good resistance to clover scorch disease but is very susceptible to all three races of Phytophthora root rot. Rosedale produces cream seed which is smaller than Clare. It is suited to heavy soils and can be grown with Clare where seasons are shorter or more variable.
