Narrative
"Greater lotus", a vigorous, fine-stemmed perennial, growing erect or somewhat decumbent and rooting at the nodes. Plants are leafy, and flowers are borne in clusters of 8-12. Adapted to areas which remain moist during summer; tolerates acid soils and withstands inundation; a useful species on swampy ground. Slow to establish from seed, may take up to 3 years to reach maximim production, origionally from DSIR, Grasslands Division, Palmerston, New Zealand
