a non-hardy legume with ascending stems, hairy trifoliate leaves and round yellowish-white flower heads, plants are deep rooted, grown mostly as a winter annual crop, often with irrigation, adapted to temperate climates with at least 254mm of rain annually and free from severe frosts, a vigorous-growing species which produces 2 or 3 hay cuts in a growing season, or more with irrigation, this clover is tolerant of salty and alkaline conditions and thrives on heavy loam
